NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville Police Department plans to crack down on impaired drivers this holiday season. Patrols and traffic stops will be increased from Dec. 18 through Jan. 4 in an effort to keep roads safe. "During this season of caring, let's remember to extend our goodwill to fellow motorists," Naperville Police Sgt. Rick Krakow said in a news release. "The best way we can do that is by making a commitment to drive sober and thereby help ensure that we all make it to our destinations safely." Police are advising motorists to: Plan for a sober ride home by designating a sober driver, using a rideshare app or taking public transportation Take keys away from friends or family members who may be in danger of driving impaired Wear safety belts The crackdown is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
