MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — An early-morning crash that shut down Route 1 in Bucks County for hours on Monday killed a 29-year-old woman who was on foot, according to police. Middletown Township Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said the woman was hit "numerous times" by several vehicles traveling southbound on Route 1. None of them stopped, he said. Five hours later, a passerby found the woman's arm on the side of the road in Philadelphia, according to multiple sources, including NBC10. Her arm was found along 8800 block of Pine Road; investigators have not yet said how they believe the body part got there. Officers were called at 3:26 a.m. Monday to the scene of the crash near Neshaminy High School. Bartorilla said the woman — whom police were not identifying Monday pending notification of family — had been either walking along the highway or trying to cross it. Traffic in both directions was shut down for hours Monday morning. Shortly after noon, PennDOT announced that police activity in the area had been cleared and the highway was open. Many buses to Neshaminy High School were re-routed and arrived late, according to the school district. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact Officer Timothy King or Sgt.
