NEWTOWN, PA — Bucks County Community College has been awarded nearly $4 million in state funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to upgrade its technology infrastructure. The funding represents half of the annual capital expense of the $7.9 million project. The remaining funds will be sourced from local sponsors of the college, the college said. College President Stephanie Shanblatt said the project will "propel the digital transformation of [the college], allowing us to serve Bucks Countians using new-friendly and more secure technology systems." "Bucks County Community College continues to provide outstanding opportunities to our local students, despite recent challenges in the education field due to the pandemic," State Sen. Steve Santarsiero (D-Bucks) said in a news release announcing the funding. "This funding from the Department of Education will help BCCC continue to provide exemplary community engagement and pathways for personal and professional success for all students."
