loving couple looking for smaller dog

I am the live in caregiver for an older (65,64) couple who are in search of a dog! With empty nests and disposable income they’ve got more than enough love to give. To stay manageable we would prefer a smaller breed, but are open to medium friends as well. I as their caregiver would be handling all maintenance and logistics (I have three dogs of my own) so fear not about their objective care. Preferably female and on the younger side, as we hope to have a long life with them. But again, if the shoe fits we won’t turn our backs! Willing and alright with rehoming fees as well. We have been searching for months without any luck, but are hopeful! Thank you :)
