Newtown Man, Former Frat President, Gets Prison For Sex Assault

NEWTOWN, PA — A Bucks County man and former Temple University fraternity president will spend up to seven years in prison for attempted sexual assault and attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion. Ari Goldstein, 23, of Newtown and former president of Temple's Alpha Epsilon Pi, was sentenced to three and a half to seven years in prison. In February, he was found guilty of felony attempted sexual assault, felony attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion, and indecent assault by forcible compulsion in February. Goldstein was not convicted on charges involving a second female, who was also a student at the time of the reported incident, the Philadelphia District Attorney's office said. His sentencing also included three years of probation and will be registered as a sex offender. The incident occurred in February 2018 but was reported to authorities that April, according to police. Authorities said a female student attended a party at Alpha Epsilon Pi's fraternity house was sexually assaulted. Temple suspended the frat as it investigated alleged sexual assaults, underage and excessive drinking, and possible drug use at the fraternity's social events.
