NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Newtown man is accused of attempting to set fire to his grandparents' home following a heated argument there on Monday night, according to the Newtown Township Police Department. Shortly before 6 p.m., police and fire crews responded to the Winterset Court home after a neighbor called 911 to report a fire. Police met with the residents, who stated that their grandson, Patrick Michael Falcey, Jr., became irritated and argumentative and started pouring gasoline in the living room and set fire to the room while his girlfriend, grandparents and their dog was still inside, according to police. Falcey then used a fire extinguisher to douse the flames before fleeing the home, police said. Authorities tracked down the 29-year-old man seven hours later in the back seat of his car, which was parked nearby. Newtown police and the Newtown Emergency Services Department determined through an investigation that the fire was intentionally set, which placed the family members in immediate danger, police said. Police charged Falcey with two felony arson counts and two counts of misdemeanor reckless endangerment. He was transported to the Northampton Township Police Department where he was processed and sent to Bucks County Jail on $100,000 bail. Falcey is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.
