Warehouse Supervisor Job Description The primary function of the warehouse supervisor is to ensure efficient flow in the warehouse and to assist the Warehouse Manager. The following description is to describe the tasks the position is responsible. The ability to prioritize tasks, manage time and delegate tasks will be of the upmost importance. This job description is to be used in tandem with the warehouse supervisor procedure. Warehousing Maintaining a clean and organize workspace are key elements to a functional warehouse. Get field personnel loaded and unload as effectively as possible, ensuring the proper transfer of materials to and from jobs. Accurate inventory sign out and following the 6S policies of warehousing. *Follow opening and closing procedures for the warehouse *Prioritize the efficient and effective load out for all commercial foreman, leads and delivery drivers. *Make sure all materials are tagged with the correct color-coded labels as per procedure *Sort and dispose of trash and recyclables, salvage good materials *Help pull materials people are looking for Returns *Process, count and clean returns *Assign PO’s to returns Load sheets *Pull from stock for job material requests *Properly fill out stock forms for materials from inventory Assign and check in tools in the absence of the Warehouse Manager *Follow Asset Tiger *Tools should be checked in and out good working order *Note any defects to be reviewed by the warehouse manager Shipping/Receiving *Follow the shipping & receiving procedure *Inspect and account for all freight in bound and out bound *Distribute UPS and Fed ex packages to each department *Ensure all freight is stored properly Follow the 6S system for the warehouse and yard *Sort – keeping and storing what is necessary *Set in order – arranging and labelling for easy use and return by anyone *Shine – keep areas swept and clean *Standardize – ensure the first 3 steps are properly maintained *Sustain – make a habit of properly maintaining the correct procedures *Safety – accident prevention – aware of activities being performed, identify and eliminate hazards to maintain a zero accident and injury-free workplace Forklift Performing pre-shift inspections of our equipment is a way to identify potential problems before they cause down time or even accidents *Complete the daily forklift checklist each day for each machine *Work with the warehouse manager to correct and repair any noted issues on equipment *Maintain cleanliness of the forklifts which includes washing and clearing dust and debris from under bonnet. Dispatch and delivery As part of learning the steps necessary to be effective at this position sufficient time will be spent scheduling and dispatching delivery drivers on routes that are effective. *Call or contact foreman and leads for the materials they need for the next day *Order materials for will call or vendor delivery *Complete “daily delivery” tickets for each driver *Utilize the warehouse calendar to track and schedule deliveries as needed *Communicate effectively with foreman ETA, shortages, and delivery confirmations Purchasing Purchasing is an important part of the warehouse supervisor’s job. Issuing, tracking, and entering PO’s will be a daily task. *Maintain a PO log *Enter PO’s when issuing them *Match packing slips to PO’s and enter them into Sage *At the EOM process unmatched PO’s with invoice originals *Utilize part #’s on entry to ensure proper tracking of materials *When processing returns us the original PO used to purchase the materials whenever possible. Inventory Inventory stocking, ordering, and cycle counts will be an important part of tasks the warehouse supervisor will be accountable for. Entry of transfer sheets, ensuring proper sign out, and maintaining inventory organization and cleanliness are also important tasks. *Maintain stock levels be reordering as per the inventory reorder list for min/max levels *Put away, sort, and organize inventory bins and locations *Process material transfer sheets into Sage *Error check and correct inventory discrepancies *Monthly cycle counts Vehicle Maintaining our vehicles is another critical function of the warehouse department. Fill out vehicle maintenance checklists weekly for all warehouse delivery vehicles and review any issues with the warehouse manager *Fill out vehicle maintenance checklists for all warehouse vehicles *Complete them once a week *Assist Residential warehouse manager with these checklists for all residential install trucks *Review checklists with warehouse manager *Wash trucks as they reflect on the company as a whole Equipment and Tools Maintaining tools and equipment in good working order is another primary function of the warehouse. The warehouse supervisor will be in responsible for visual inspections and reporting defects. *Check tools in and out using our asset management program and following procedure *Clean off and visually inspect scissor lifts *Maintain water levels in scissor lifts *Clean and put away tools in the tool room when returned from the field *Report any defects to the warehouse manager *Inspect ladders *Make sure they are clean and in good condition *All safety and weight rating stickers are legible *Marked with company name on both sides, not covering safety stickers Benefits include medical/vision/dental, life insurance, PTO, holiday and paid vacation, 401k w. matching, uniforms, cell phone.
