Students and visitors are welcome to an informative and inspirational talk by Oklahoma's first African-American Speaker of the House. T.W. Shannon shares his personal story of growth and struggle. An Oklahoma-born banker and politician, Shannon served as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives for the 62nd district from 2007 to 2015. In 2014, Shannon took the oath of office to be Oklahoma’s first African-American speaker of the House. Phi Psi Presents is an ongoing lecture series provided by the local chapter of the Phi Kappa Psi social fraternity. The series seeks to inform and inspire members of the student body at the University of Oklahoma. Phi Kappa Psi provides members with a home away from home and is based upon three basic principles of honor, truth, and service to others. Phi Psi chapters utilize their collective influence to hold themselves to be men of excellence who behave responsibly.
