Description
When I came home from work today, I found a somewhat dazed baby squirrel at the base of one of my trees and another screaming from the nest high up in the tree. I tried unsuccessfully to get it to go back up to the nest, and it was not gonna happen. I put it in a box with some cozy fabric and waited a while to see if the mom would come back. 2 hours later windier, colder, and the one and the nest screaming (off and on) still; I took the one inside, and waited a bit longer waiting for a mom to appear, and the second baby decided to jump/fall out of the nest to rescue it's sibling (?!). I then took the box out tried to show the little guy who jumped that his/her pal was safe -adorably snuggled in the box sleeping, "Jumpy" was very distrustful; after 10 minutes sitting 3 feet apart having a stare-down,- it was growling and hunched very wary of me,-
it finally got very cold and sleepy and allowed me to pick it up, wrap it in felt and put in the box with it's buddy. I put them somewhere warm in the house and kept checking to see if mom returned. Almost 8 hours since I found them and no mom; I believe the neighbor's hunting dog may have had her for lunch. :( I need someone to take them by tomorrow morning if possible. They look perfectly healthy, the one was understandably wary of humans, they look to be around 4-6 weeks old.
If you are at all interested in taking care of these babies, or know someone who might, Please text me so they can get taken care of. Thank you! My cell: two08-5one4-six9zero4
