The Women of Louisiana
After Hours at Capitol Park Museum is an opportunity to experience the museum in a more in depth way. They offer programs, talks, panels, and tours to bring to life the history and culture housed at the museum. JOIN US this month in celebration of the contributions of the women of Louisiana. You can learn about the everyday life as well as extraordinary lives of women who were born or lived in Louisiana. You can find artists, explorers, activists, and many more in The Louisiana Experience and Grounds for Greatness: Louisiana and the Nation permanent exhibitions, spanning from the women of Poverty Point more than three thousand years ago to the women of the Civil Rights movement in the twentieth century. We strive to show the hand of women throughout history with supplementary exhibitions and programs and use Women’s History Month as a spotlight on the women featured in our permanent exhibitions. Come learn about the amazing women of Louisiana, from environmentalist Caroline Dormon and artist Clementine Hunter to renowned musicians, including the Boswell Sisters, Mahalia Jackson, and Irma Thomas. Doors open at 4 PM and the program begins at 5 PM. Thank you to our 2022 After Hours sponsor, Hayride Scandal.
