On Saturday, May 7th at 4pm, MARK Project will Host the 2nd Annual Kentucky Derby Jubilee at Margaretville Telephone Company’s Community Hall, 61 Academy Street, Margaretville. The annual “Run for the Roses” is among just a handful of historic and popular American sporting events; it’s a celebration of Spring, horse racing and fashion— especially fashionable and stunning hats! This year the MARK Project hopes you’ll join us for all the excitement at a spectacular food filled, fancy-hat-wearing, friendly wagering, energy packed jubilee in the MTC Community Room. The food will be lavish with samplings from local restaurants, area farmers, and hard-to-find delights from all over our region—it’s hands-down one of the best dining events of the year! And we haven’t forgotten the “fashionistas” among you — Over the years the Derby has become just as much about the fashion as the racing, as it’s Derby day fashion that everyone is talking about long after the winning horse and jockey are crowned. An over-the-top, chic, or preppy hat is the key to any Derby attire and MARK will honor that tradition with a Special Prize and bragging rights for a year for the best hat. Need a hat? Daily Racing form stats delivered by Glen Pedersen, and the spirited Horse auction will all take place prior to the race being televised live on the big screen at MTC. We don’t think there’s a better spot in the Catskills to celebrate Spring, share the excitement with your neighbors and friends, and to watch the Derby all while supporting a valuable community organization.
