Description
MENIFEE, CA — It took five and a half hours Tuesday afternoon for officials to lift a SigAlert on southbound Interstate 215 in Menifee following a big rig crash at Scott Road.
The SigAlert was issued at approximately noon Tuesday after the rig crashed into k-rail along the freeway, blocking the number 3 lane. The California Highway Patrol warned the lane closure would last for an "extended period."
Traffic was delayed in the area as hazmat crews worked to clean up approximately 50 gallons of spilled fuel that leaked into a storm drain, according to a photographer at the scene.
The truck driver was not injured and there were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
The scene was deemed safe just before 5 p.m. and the SigAlert was reported cancelled 30 minutes later.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
