Celebrate Texas History Month at Heritage Family Day with free activities featuring the stories German and African-American Texans. In partnership with the Heritage Society at Ssm Houston Park Time travel to the Texas frontier to visit farms and villages to learn about life in the 1800s!  On your journey, you will excavate like an archaeologist, write with quills, create a copy of a crazy quilt, dye fabric with plants and insects, and make food like early settlers.  Included in your adventure is a tour of the 1823 “Old Place” cabin and a  replica of a general store built circa 1870s.  Re-enactors from Jesse H. Jones Park and BBC Nature Center bring the past to life.
