Omnium Outdoors Hiking Series: The Newport Cliff Walk

Our 2nd Adventure Club event of 2022 is a 7-mile out-and-back walk on the cliffs of Newport, RI, between ocean spray & a number of mansions. The Cliff Walk is one of Rhode Island's top-rated trails. Part hike, part promenade, it looks out to the ocean on its East and South sides, while bringing you just behind the yards of Newport's famed century-old mansions. This moderate hike will be led by two of our professional hiking guides and will consist of a moderate 7.0-mile out-and-back, ascending only 269 total feet of elevation. Our pace will be between 2 and 3 mph with multiple recovery stops. This event will take about 3 hours. All proceeds from this event go toward helping those living with a mental illness. This event is pre-registration only. Start time is 10:00am on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Check-in will be open from 9:30-9:55am. Please bring your own food and water for the day along with proper footwear and clothing for the weather. Omnium Outdoors will be providing the service of guiding our hikers along the trail as well as any assistance a hiker may need including first aid, technical questions, or even motivation. Public parking is available near the trailhead - we recommend the Easton Beach parking lot one quarter-mile away at 175 Memorial Blvd, Newport, RI 02840. The trail is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Address for event: 117 Memorial Blvd, Newport, RI 02840 (parking at 175 Memorial Blvd) Amenities: There is a public restroom at Easton Beach, where we recommend parking, at 175 Memorial Blvd, Newport, RI 02840, as well as a restroom on the trail about 3/4 mile in. We do advise that you bring your own food and water for during the event, but a nearby restaurant we recommend for after the hike is Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant, located at 140 Thames St, Newport, RI 02840.
