I just found this in my attic. It's a letter to my great grandfather from his cousin in New York who was a conservative. He says "Thomas Edison just invented something called the electric light bulb but it will never be popular. It's too expensive and not everybody can afford it. Also, the electric grid doesn't even exist yet so no one can plug it in. Trust me. Kerosene lamps will always be the best way to go." You can't argue with that. Spot on.
