Coroner IDs Man Killed After Walking On I-215 In Perris

PERRIS, CA — Authorities Thursday identified a 21-year-old man who was struck and killed as he walked along Interstate 215 in Perris. Enrique Jimenez of Hemet was struck about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday on the northbound side of I-215, roughly a quarter-mile south of the Ramona Expressway, and died at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol. Jimenez was in lanes, for reasons unknown, when he was hit by a Dodge Ram pickup and then again by a Honda Accord, following close behind, the CHP reported. Both drivers immediately stopped and called 911. CHP officers partially closed the freeway for two hours while a preliminary investigation was conducted.
