WOODBRIDGE, VA — A car struck a 65-year-old man in Woodbridge last month. On Friday, police learned that the man died as a result of his injuries.
The crash occurred on Feb. 24, the police department said in a news release on Saturday. Around 6:15 p.m., crash investigators responded to the scene.
Investigators determined that a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country was travelling westbound on River Ridge Road near Route 1. There, the minivan hit a pedestrian.
Authorities said the pedestrians stepped into the roadway outside of a crosswalk. The driver remained on the scene after the crash.
Emergency personnel took the pedestrian to a nearby hospital. They believed his injuries were life-threatening. On Friday, investigators learned that the pedestrian died from injuries suffered in the crash.
On Saturday, the police department identified the pedestrian as Arthur Raymond Labunde. They identified the driver as a 32-year-old man from D.C.
Authorities said that speed, alcohol, and drugs were not factors in the crash. The police department has not announced any charges in connection with the crash.
