Pedestrian Dies After Crash Near Route 1 In Woodbridge: Police

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A car struck a 65-year-old man in Woodbridge last month. On Friday, police learned that the man died as a result of his injuries. The crash occurred on Feb. 24, the police department said in a news release on Saturday. Around 6:15 p.m., crash investigators responded to the scene. Investigators determined that a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country was travelling westbound on River Ridge Road near Route 1. There, the minivan hit a pedestrian. Authorities said the pedestrians stepped into the roadway outside of a crosswalk. The driver remained on the scene after the crash. Emergency personnel took the pedestrian to a nearby hospital. They believed his injuries were life-threatening. On Friday, investigators learned that the pedestrian died from injuries suffered in the crash. On Saturday, the police department identified the pedestrian as Arthur Raymond Labunde. They identified the driver as a 32-year-old man from D.C. Authorities said that speed, alcohol, and drugs were not factors in the crash. The police department has not announced any charges in connection with the crash. Have a story idea?
