MILFORD, NH — A Milford teen is heading to the Ninja League World Championships in North Carolina later this month as a member of the Stealth Squad competition team that trains at USA Ninja Challenge in Manchester. Mickayla Dube, 14, has been competing in ninja competitions for a number of years and has qualified for regional tournaments. Dube will be competing in the teenage division and it's her third time heading to the world championships.
Dube trains three to five days a week in what she knows to be a sport commonly dominated by men and boys — but that doesn't stop her.
"I have always looked up to and admired powerful women like Jessie Graff, Meagan Martin and Jessie 'Flex' Labreck," Dube said. "I want to inspire the future of the sport and show them that women can be strong, fit, and fierce. USA Ninja Challenge has given me a chance to hone my skills and continue to train my body to compete at a world-class level."
The national event will take place in Greensboro, NC, from Feb. 21 to Feb. 23.
