Mokena Junior High Write Club Participates In Novel Writing Month

MOKENA, IL — For the fifth year in a row, the Mokena Junior High Write Club participated in National Novel Writing Month in November. According to the district, six students rose to the challenge or writing a novel in 30 days, and produced 85,390 words. The district said five of the six members hit their word count goals, led by seventh grader Ava Oostema with 15,019 words. This year's Write Club student writers were Oostema, Jacob Medema, Lillie Gunther, Rhett Novotny, Kayla Wagner and Halynn Rottigni. In addition, club sponsor Mr. Martinus penned his fifth "novel" and former Mokena Junior High teacher, Mr. Meyer continued his annual song-a-day writing effort in the spirit of the challenge," the district said.
