WILDWOODS, NJ — Morey's Piers, which controls amusement parks in the Wildwoods, announced Monday that they would be increasing seasonal worker pay to up to $16.50 an hour due to expected staff shortages, NJ.com reported.
Seasonal workers will receive perks like free access to amusement rides and water parks, and discounts on rides and food for family and friends.
This is not the first time Morey's Piers has increased pay. Last summer, they increased seasonal pay to $15 an hour. They now are paying seasonal workers $4.60 over the state minimum.
Applications opened in February and Morey's Piers opens for the season in April.
"We don't want people to lose sight of the value of a summer job," Maggie Wisniewski, a spokeswoman for Morey's Piers, told the publication. "In addition to working at the beach and meeting new friends, teens and young adults will have the opportunity to learn many valuable lessons like time management skills, communication and customer service skills, working within a team environment, and more."
Applicants must be 14 and there are a limited number of positions for those under 18. Visit Morey's Piers company websitefor more information.
