Rutgers Students Hold Man Who Broke Into Apt., Called Police

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Rutgers students said two men forced their way into their private apartment Sunday night and a struggle broke out between the college kids and the men, which ended with one of the men fleeing. But the second was held by the college students as they called 911, according to New Brunswick city police. The apartment where this happened is located near the intersection of Delafield and Courtland streets, said police. The young adults said they had just started to walk out of their apartment at 11:15 p.m. Sunday when two perpetrators forced their way inside, demanded personal property from the college kids and said — but did not show — a weapon. A struggle broke out, which ended in one suspect fleeing the area on foot and the second perpetrator being subdued by the Rutgers students until New Brunswick Police arrived. The description of second man is an African-American man in his late twenties with a skin-tight fade with an Afro hairstyle on top, approximately 5'8" tall, chipped tooth, black hoodie, black jacket and black pants. The Rutgers college students were not physically injured. It is unknown what the suspects wanted from them. Get great local news.
