EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The East Providence Recreation Department is offering a class for teens and older children on "How to be a Great Babysitter."
The class is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 pm. at the East Providence Recreation Center at 610 Waterman Ave. The six-hour course is recommended for students ages 11-16.
Town officials said students will get lots of hands-on experience learning American Heart Association CPR, choking and Automated External Defibrillator (AED techniques) for saving a life. Students will learn elements of first aid, child safety, changing and feeding a baby, how to handle an emergency, getting your babysitting business started and secrets to being known as the best babysitter on the block.
The class is taught by Emma Alexander, a certified American Heart Association CPR and first aid instructor. She has been working at Mobile Medical Training for over five years teaching life-saving skills to the next generation
The class fee is $75 per person and includes a certificate of completion and a T-shirt. Pre-registration is required. Registration is available online here.
