Let's do something new

Description

I am a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and percussionist looking for something to do with my musical self. I sing and play acoustic guitar, bass, banjo, harmonica, and the mouth harp on the more proficient side of things, and I also dabble in keys, accordion, and a little thing I call the pseudo sax, though I'm by no means proficient on those. My percussion line up includes congas, bongos, a hand made goat skin djembe, 2 doumbeks, an udu, shaker, cabassa, and tambourine. Open to covers but I don't do exact replicas of songs, I do them in my own way. I also write and am happy to work on other peoples originals. What I'd really like to do is get together with other singer/songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, and percussionists, in a mostly acoustic setting where the volume doesn't need to make our ears bleed. Obviously some things need to be amplified like keyboards, bass guitars, and my udu is a really quite instrument so I drop a little lapel mic down the hole to make it louder. In this setting we could get some covers together, work on each others original materials, write things together, and have a good time making music. In the future when we have a couple of good sets, get some gigs, do some open mics, put a hat out on the 16th street mall and street perform, go camping and play for the animals, go skydiving and be the first band to jam while plummeting back to earth from 14,000 feet, whatever. It's all fun and games. As far as musical styles go, if we're going to get together and do something new from the ground up, let's not try too hard to focus on any given genre or to sound like something, let's just jam, get some stuff together, and see how it ends up sounding. I like popular music, but also obscure off the wall stuff. I like bluegrass jam band blues psychedelic power funk movie soundtrack classical renaissance festival secular hippy folk rock rap. Let's make some happy sad confused melancholy funny angry groove mood music. For the above attempt at finding adventurous musical freaks like myself, if you have samples of music and feel like sharing it, that's fine, but not necessary, as I don't want to share mine. If we're going to do something new, let's do something new. Old takes on my originals are out the door, most of the lyrics I used to sing weren't mine, nothing I have of old is what I'm looking to recreate. Looking to explore new avenues. Also, no straight metal or country. As for other situations I'd be open to. If your band needs a multi-instrumentalist and/or a percussionist, I'm happy to fill those shoes. And heck, if your band wants another singer/songwriter to add to your repertoire I'd be happy to jump in on that as well. Or, I'd also be happy to do some session work if that's what you might happen to need. Want someone to throw down some percussion, or a banjo or something, sweet, send me a link to the song, send me some chords, and pay me for the session. We can make it fair.
