JOLIET, IL — A 36-year-old Joliet man who lives in the 1300 block of Boston Avenue was arrested early Saturday morning after officers say Quentell Haynes fired a rifle several times during an incident of domestic violence.
Haynes was taken away in handcuffs and charged with the following crimes:
Aggravated domestic batteryUnlawful restraintInterfering with the reporting of domestic violenceAggravated unlawful use of a weaponUnlawful use of a weaponReckless discharge of a gun Aggravated assaultResisting a peace officerObstructing a peace officer Joliet police were sent to the 1300 block of Boston at 11:58 p.m. Friday after learning of gunshots.
"Officers surrounded the residence and overheard a female yelling for help from inside of the home," police spokesman Dwayne English announced.
Officers received consent to search the residence and recovered a .556 rifle as well as spent and live ammunition, police reports show.
"Haynes had been drinking and had discharged multiple rounds into the air using the rifle that officers recovered," English indicated.
While a woman was in an upstairs bedroom, Haynes entered the room and pushed her to the ground, choking her with both hands, according to Joliet police.
Down at the police station, Haynes urinated on the floor and threatened to fight the officers, refusing to follow commands, English said.
"A TASER was deployed on Haynes, and he was secured," the police announced.
Haynes wanted to go to the hospital after being tased, so he was taken to St. Joe's, police indicated. After his release, Haynes was booked into the Will County Jail at 6:11 a.m. on Saturday.
His bail was set at $200,000.
