Hello again, Grand Rapids! Important update: You all, as readers, have made the Grand Rapids Daily so successful that it is my honor to announce the next stage of the newsletter. Here are the top three stories in Grand Rapids today: The Grand Rapids Pitbull Alliance has announced its intent to open a support center for local families and their pets. The center seeks to support hundreds of residents and is seeking donations from the community to fulfill its plan. According to organizers, their most immediate need is shelving for supplies and they plan to move into the new center by next month. (WZZM13.com)All new dog licenses obtained through Kent County will come with a QR code that links to information about the pet. The information will contain the dog's breed, general information about the dog, and contact details on who to call if the dog becomes lost. According to the director of the Kent County Animal Shelter, the smart licenses will hopefully allow owners to find their lost dogs faster. (MLive.com) The Alpha Grand Rapids Comedy Night is hosting a fundraiser for local families facing unplanned pregnancies. Funds will be used to purchase baby formula and diapers. Five comedians are competing to raise funds with the loser receiving a pie to the face.
