5-Alarm Fire In Jaffrey Burns Out Of Control In Extreme Heat

JAFFREY, NH — A fire quickly spread throughout a building at 39 Webster St., which was described as a large industrial building at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The first arriving crews reported heavy smoke and fire and a 3rd alarm was immediately requested. Fire crews from a large region of New Hampshire and Massachusetts responded to the fire which expanded to five-alarms. Crews from Vermont assisted with station coverage to New Hampshire stations. High temperatures and heavy fire conditions were major challenges on personnel. As of 7 p.m. South West Fire Mutual Aid confirmed there had been no injuries. Smoke from materials burning in the building could be seen for miles. According to online Jaffrey Tax records the building is classified as a warehouse built in 1920 and is 98,952 square feet. The most recent online tax records show the building is owned by by Larry Thibeault and Steven Thibeault of Amherst. Crews continue to battle the fire, and have brought in light towers to illuminate the scene. Patch will update as more information becomes available.
