A track laborer position is required to safely and efficiently inspect, repair, and maintain the railroad track and other infrastructure to insure safe and efficient service to our customers. This is a manual labor position with the following skills, duties, and requirements: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned, as required. • Corrects deviations in track surface, alignment and gage using hand tools. • Repair, maintain, and construct track including replace ties, rail, joints, bolts and turnout components. • Installs and repairs street crossings and railroad crossings; establishes and maintains drainage; install, repairs and cleans culverts; removes snow from switches • Operates hand, power, hydraulic, gas powered, and pneumatic tools in the performance of duties • Practice safe work habits and follow company and industry policies. Track laborer is required to understand, pass exams, and apply rules and safety procedures.. • Respond promptly to any accident, incident or emergency call. This position starts as a track laborer, with possibility to qualify as a machine operator. Work hours are typically Monday through Friday with periodic work in during nonstandard times. Requirements: You must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. CDL a plus. Must have reliable transportation Required Experience: High School Diploma or GED; with 2 years work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience with heavy hand tools; previous work in an outside environment are preferred.
