MANHATTAN, IL — A group in Manhattan has connected on Facebook to help those in need during the coronavirus pandemic. Those looking to help or donate food, items and resources dedicated to the coronavirus relief efforts or anyone looking for support is encouraged to join the Manhattan Strong Illinois Facebook group. According to the group, donations are needed at the Manhattan Food Pantry, which serves more than two-dozen families twice a month, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday (proof of residency is required). Upcoming dates for 2020: October 5 & 19; November 2 & 16; December 7 & 21 Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the village said the food pantry is distributing food in a drive-up format. Everyone is asked to stay in their car and show their driver's license through their window. There will be signs with instructions in the parking lot as you pull up. More information: Call Manhattan Township at 815-478-3123 Food can be dropped anytime at the large gray wooden box marked "Food Drop," on the north side of the Manhattan Township Building, in the parking lot, 230 Wabash Street.
