Description
Thanks for reading this far! I am the worship leader at Shady Grove UMC in Irmo and we are looking for musicians to fill out our team. Shady Grove UMC is a vibrant, growing United Methodist congregation located in the Dutch Fork area of Irmo, South Carolina. Called to share God’s grace with all, we worship in a variety of styles, hold fellowship events for all ages and offer opportunities for spiritual growth. We are church accepting of ALL people and we mean it. We are looking for musicians of all ages and skill level!
We play contemporary worship and our setlist includes Hillsong, Elevation, Phil Wickham to name a few. We play with click and guide and do not have a scheduled practice during the week, instead I just ask that musicians be to service 30 minutes early for a quick sound-check and to make any necessary monitor adjustments. A typical services is 4 songs: 3 contemporary and 1 hymn that is just played acoustically. Set lists are chosen several weeks in advance and all materials are provided (chord charts, audio samples) in a planning app so you will have every resource to prepare!
We have an electronic drum kit and Roland digital keyboard supplied as well as DI for guitar and bass, so there is minimal equipment needed for performing on a given morning.
I know this is bound to be asked so I am going to go ahead and mention in the ad, we are currently looking for unpaid volunteers. I 100% believe that musicians should be paid for their talents and I have served at different churches in paid and unpaid roles. Getting a budget for musicians is at the top of my list but the service is new and I am working on a "build it and they will come" mentality. The rollercoaster of COVID has been tough on church attendance and for this reason I have delayed my efforts to assemble a team, but it seems like things are improving and it seems like the time is right.
Please e-mail me for more information or if you have any questions!
