Everett Turnpike South in the Town of Merrimack, NH. The incident was determined to be a single motor vehicle crash that occurred along the shoulder of the highway in the area of Exit 10. NH State police say preliminary investigation revealed that 38-year-old Charles Daly of Goffstown, New Hampshire, was operating a 2014 Subaru when the vehicle left the right hand side roadway just after the Exit 10 southbound off-ramp. After leaving the roadway the Subaru continued along the right hand shoulder until it struck a metal guardrail. The Subaru then crossed all lanes of travel, struck the jersey barrier in the left hand breakdown and then rolled over several times. As a result of this impact, Daly was ejected from the vehicle and the front end of the Subaru came to a rest on top of him. The Subaru then caught on fire and was quickly extinguished by several good Samaritans who had stopped to assist prior to the arrival of responding emergency personnel. Once the initial Trooper and a Merrimack Police Officer arrived on scene they were able to utilize the Subaru's carjack to lift the vehicle off Daly. Personnel from Merrimack Fire Department were then able to begin attending to Daly. Circumstances surrounding this event are still under investigation and the cause of the crash is still unknown. The Merrimack Fire Department transported the operator from the scene by ambulance before being transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital via Boston MedFlight. All southbound lanes of the Turnpike were closed for nearly two hours, while the incident was investigated. This accident is being investigated by Trooper John Tyo of the New Hampshire State Police-Troop B.
