Deep Dive into the new Computer Science Standards for Illinois Presenter: Eric SantosThis interactive workshop will provide guidance for understanding the new CS standards and deep dive into what they will look like for students at all grade levels. The first part of this session will demonstrate how to conduct a crosswalk between the CS standards and your existing programming. We’ll start by investigating the purpose and goals of the standards to help you define your own CS vision. Then, we’ll explore where your program may already be aligned to the standards, and where you may need to fill some gaps. In the second half of the session, we’ll investigate tools and curricular options to directly address the standards, both in standalone CS programming as well as integrated within core classes. You’ll walk away with both a high-level map of your district or school’s Computer Science plan, and enough details and resources to begin implementing it. Refunds will be issued only to participants who contact SCISC five (5) business days before the start date of the program, or if the program is canceled.
