LISLE, IL — Lisle's 2020 Scarecrow Scramble is set to take place in person, with restrictions in place to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. The race, set for Oct. 10, will feature a 5K run/walk, a 1/2-mile youth run and a virtual option for those who want to take part remotely. Lisle Trustee Sara Sadat told Patch, "This is our (Lisle Partners for Parks) largest fundraiser and heavily attended from all the families and avid runners in the community. We are happy to carry out this event with great planning and partnership with the Lisle Park District. My fellow board members and I look forward to seeing you all there with as much pomp and celebration as years prior. Let's embark on a whole new fall this year!" Costumes are encouraged for the race! The following safety guidelines are in place for the 2020 Scarecrow Scramble, according to Lisle Partners for Parks: Racers must be "completely self-sufficient;" there will be no "aid stations" on the courseRacers must follow all CDC guidelines for safe distancing Racers must be in good health and symptom-free for 14 days prior to the race Racers must wear face masks when not racing Participants must sign up for a designated start time to allow for safer social distancing. The start times kick off at 6 p.m. and are available every five minutes. Additional start times will be added as more racers sign up. The youth run is open to the following age groups and will be split by age group: ages 5-6, ages 7-8 and ages 9-11. Each age group will run at a different start time to encourage social distancing. Kids 10 and under who have registered for the 5K run/walk can take part in the youth run free of charge.
