Lectures on The History of The Peace Garden
The Garden was established in 1981 by students who became shocked and saddened when reading the Holocaust Novel, The Painted Bird authored by Jerzy Kosiński in a Union County College Banned Books class taught by Professor Vicki Reback. They were inspired to do something. They sought to GROW A BETTER WORLD. Their Advisor, Professor Vicki Reback, taught her students that in order to grow a better world they would need to connect with and become Caretakers of the Earth. The Peace Garden was visited by Tibetan Monks, Native American Leaders, Famous Poet Allen Ginsberg, Peace Keepers and famous folk singer Holly Near.
Learning about the Peace Garden in a small way is a way to bring peace back into our community, and our world.
