Description
A hand-reared, good natured lutino cockatiel in need of a new home. This sweet little guy is around a year and a half old, is very friendly and good natured. A hand reared bird that is used to people, tame, and sweet as a puppy once he warms up to you. Knows how to step up, likes riding around on shoulders, and if he had his way he would get neck scratches 24/7. I say "he" but I am unsure of the gender, the person I purchased him from last year said he was a boy but he doesn't sing much. I have no way of knowing whether he's a male or female, but we call him "he" because that's our assumption. This is a friendly young bird that will be a great companion for many years to come. I have to rehome him due to life circumstances keeping me from giving him the affection and time that he really deserves - he loves to hang out, and will be your best buddy if you make the time for him. Rehoming fee is $350. He will come with his cage, food, toys, and accessories. Basically everything you need to maintain him right off the bat, including some extra perches, toys, and other things I have to cycle in once the ones in the cage get too worn. If you are new to cockatiel ownership/taming, here are my tips for earning his trust once he's in your home: 1: Let him get settled. Talk to him, feed him, sing to him, read to him, but don't try to take him out of the cage or be too aggressive with your affections for the first few days. Even eating in the same room with his cage will be helpful, as eating is a gentle social activity for birds that lets them know you are part of the flock. Start bribing him with millet sprays as a treat so he knows you're a friend. 2: Once he is no longer totally freaked out, you can start letting him out and trying to get him to step up on your finger, get on your shoulder, or accept gentle pets on the top/back of his head - with more millet to bribe him if needed. Since he is a hand-tamed cockatiel, he will not be overly terrified of human hands, but you still need to approach slowly and carefully - no fast movements, and don't approach from over his head or behind him which could make him nervous. 3: Enjoy your cool new friend once the above steps have been completed with patience and love!
