Lisle Appoints Wilke As New Police Chief

LISLE, IL — The village of Lisle has appointed a new police chief to replace David Anderson, who retired in Oct. 2019. Mayor Chris Pecak announced that he has appointed Ron Wilke to the position. Wilke's appointment will be considered at the Feb. 17 village board meeting. Wilke, who has been on the Lisle police force for 24 years, earned a bachelor of science in sociology and a masters degree in criminal justice from Chicago State University before he became a police officer. His experience includes work as a probation officer and deputy with the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. With the Lisle Police Department, Wilke has served as a patrol officer, detective sergeant, community policing sergeant, watch commander, deputy chief of administration, public information officer and deputy chief of operations. In statement, Mayor Pecak said, "[Wilke] has been part of the fabric of our community and shown an authentic commitment to ensuring Lisle residents and business are able to positively connect with our exceptional Police Department." Wilke said he is "excited for the opportunity and look forward to serving the Lisle community in a new role, working with an excellent staff, and continuing to provide the high quality services the Lisle Police Department prides itself on." To find the village's next police chief, Lisle officials worked with national recruiters GovHR USA. Wilke was appointed from a pool of applicants that included people from 12 states and 45 candidates from Illinois.
