Barcelona Flamenco Ballet to perform at the historical Hotel San Carlos as part of their U.S. tour! Carlos Montúfar of Phoenix World Arts Collective is honored to present David Gutiérrez and his company Barcelona Flamenco Ballet, for their performance of Tiempo Nuevo: Flamenco Reborn. Flamenco Artists: Guitarist: JORDI CENTENO / Singer: JOEL DE PEPA / Dancers: PAULA REYES and DAVID GUTIÉRREZ (Director) Barcelona Flamenco Ballet fuses three dance styles with which we are all familiar – jazz, contemporary and, of course, flamenco – although the integration of the three results in a totally innovative onstage presence. Creating a tension so electric, the metallic tapping sounds of the dancers’ footwork endure in one’s ears, leaving us questioning: what does it mean to be ‘reborn’? This amazing company has gained international success in countries such as China, the United States of America, France, Romania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Lebanon. David Gutiérrez has also earned recognition by many national theatres in Spain, such as the cities of Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Bilbao, and Menorca. The main aim of Barcelona Flamenco Ballet is to promote Barcelona’s art throughout the world, to boost Catalan culture (which is still fairly unknown throughout the world), and to provide an opportunity for young talents in the Catalan Flamenco scene.
