DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Seven nonprofit arts organizations based in Delaware County are getting grant funding to help with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Gov. Tom Wolf Monday said that 309 nonprofit arts organizations will receive grants totaling $2.3 million in CARES act funding.
Among the 309 organizations are seven in Delco.
The recipients are:
Main Line Art CenterBrandywine Conservancy & Museum Of ArtMain Line School Night AssociationDarlington Fine Arts CenterCommunity Arts Center WallingfordHedgerow TheatreMedia Theater For The Performing Arts Media Theater doing business as Media Theater Each will get $1,930 from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts
Additionally, the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art is receiving $50,000 in funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The funds support staff salaries, fees for artists or contractual personnel, and facilities costs.
Arts and cultural economic activity, adjusted for inflation, accounted for 4.5 percent of gross domestic product or $877.8 billion, in 2017, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.
In Pennsylvania, the sector contributed $25.8 billion to the state's economy and employed 176,000 workers.
