MEDIA, PA — Officials in the Rose Tree Media School District recently approved a two-pronged approach to reopen its schools for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Rose Tree Media Board of School Directors Tuesday approved a Health & Safety Plan. With the plan comes a blended learning model that uses in-person and virtual learning for all district students when school resumes Aug. 31. However, blended models differ at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Click each school link for details on the individual models. District parents and guardian can also opt out of all in-person classes by enrolling in a fully virtual program. Registration closes at 11 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3. Enrollment for a trimester (elementary schools) or marking period (middle and high schools) is required. Get details on elementary, middle, and high school virtual learning plans here. The district will consider requests for students registered for the Fully Virtual Model to move to the Blended Model due to extenuating circumstances that may arise during the school year. Families who want to use the fully virtual program should complete the survey here for each child. In addition to the blended model, the district's plan institutes a slew of practices that aim to keep student and staff safe as they return to school. Some highlights include 6 feet of physical distancing; requiring employees to wear masks while on school grounds as well as requiring students to wear masks while on school buses and throughout the school day, except for lunch; symptom screenings; and barring visitors from district buildings. See the full Health & Safety Plan here. "Like all school districts in our region and state, we will closely monitor the situation and review guidance from the PA Department of Education, the PA Department of Health, the Chester County Department of Health, and the CDC," Superintendent Dr. Eleanor DiMarino-Linnen said in a letter to the district community.
