DARIEN, CT — The Community Fund of Darien announced this week the second annual "Mission: Possible!" web-based, town-wide scavenger hunt will take place in April. According to a news release, the event will be held April 1-3, beginning at 3 p.m. Friday and ending at 3 p.m. Sunday. The event was created last year to bring the community together during a time of social distancing to have some fun and raise money to benefit TCF's nonprofit partners' programs that strengthen youth, adults and families in Darien, Norwalk and Stamford, according to the organization. "Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to form a team of 4-6 people," the release reads. "Once you've registered on The Community Fund of Darien's website and downloaded the Mission: Possible! app, you will receive a series of 'missions' to complete. Each mission has a points value associated with it." The top three teams with the most points will receive gift cards from their choice of location: 1st Place: $1,000, 2nd Place: $500 and 3rd Place: $250. Sample missions include: Name the oldest church in Darien; bonus points for submitting a photo of your team leaving four cans of soup in the church's collection box for one of The Community Fund of Darien's non-profit partner's food pantry. Take a selfie of your team outside of a participating Darien local business sponsor. Submit a video of your family playing "the floor is lava." Registration opens on Friday, March 11. According to the Community Fund, this is a game for everyone, whether you are looking for some laughs or charging towards the grand prize. "Mission: Possible! is a great way to get out and learn more about Darien, local businesses, and the work of The Community Fund of Darien and our community partners," Janet King, the community fund's executive director, said in a news release. "Our community can come together over a weekend to have fun, explore, and enjoy a friendly competition. Last year's event was a huge success, and many teams couldn't wait to get back in the action this year. Mission Control has included new and very clever missions from local youth, nonprofit organizations, and businesses." Teams are encouraged to share their mission photos on TCF's Facebook and Instagram pages using the hashtag "#TCFMissionPossible." Participants can register at www.communityfunddarien.org at $50 per team. Registration fees will directly support TCF's local nonprofit partners. An email confirmation will contain TCF's "Mission: Possible!" game code; download the free "Goose Chase" app on your iPhone or Android and enter the game code within the app to begin. To complete a mission, select it from the list and follow the instructions to receive the allotted points. Missions may involve submitting a photo or video, checking in at a specific location, or solving a puzzle or riddle, according to the community fund. The organization lists the following sponsors as supporters of Mission: Possible!: Noroton Presbyterian Church, Darien Sport Shop, Hutchison Tree Care, J. McLaughlin, Hollow Tree Self Storage, Amanda Craig of Manhattan MFT, Sonia Byrnes of William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty, Office Suite of Darien, Atria Senior Living, Precisely Pilates, HAYVN, Dance on the DL, Darien Running Company, Darien Toy Box, Uncle's Deli, Helen Ainson Shoppe, Salt Cave of Darien, Sugar Bowl, Vavala's Deli, Everything is Rosey, Crescendo Music, Aux Delices, Barrett Bookstore and Hands on Pottery.
