General Position Summary: The Senior Grants & Foundations Officer will lead the strategy and manage the solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship process for current and prospective foundation and grant-based funding organizations. This position will oversee the development, writing, and submission of timely and compelling proposals and reports for grants up to seven figures. This role will collaborate closely with program and finance staff to draft and submit all grant application materials. It will play a key role in tracking and evaluating grants and stewarding relationships with funders and granting partners. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: • Manages the organization’s growing grant portfolio, collaborating with team members to ensure on-time submission of all grant materials. • Generates revenue through full-cycle grant processes from opportunity identification through submission and reporting for funded projects • Leads cross-team collaboration to gather insights and report to funders on progress toward grant objectives. • Strengthens relationships with philanthropic partners, following up on information requests, moving funding conversations forward, and supporting periodic updates and check-ins. • Has a passion for Food Justice is a convincing storyteller with an adaptive and versatile writing style. • Takes initiative to collaborate with Food Lifeline Teams like Programs, Advocacy, and Leadership, to align proposal development processes to strategic goals and ensure successful completion of all funder requirements, including program narratives, budget management, and general reporting. • Develops a comprehensive annual proposal calendar of existing and new funding opportunities. Similarly, actively tracks submissions, deadlines, and reporting requirements to completion. Education and Experience: • Experience with corporate, foundation, and government funders • Compelling and passionate storyteller and writer, with an adaptive and versatile writing style. • Brings an analytical approach to their work and is comfortable pulling together portfolio performance metrics, building data reports, and designing budgets • Detail-oriented, organized, and has a proven track record of leading complex projects and developing grants management process • Models and upholds the values of openness, inclusiveness, and humor while interacting with internal and external stakeholders • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills. • Proficiency in standard office software, knowledge of relational database management (raiser’s edge preferred)
