ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Spectrum announced a two-hour special virtual graduation honoring the SoCal class of 2020 Saturday. Graduates are invited to tune in at 7 p.m. Saturday in for a keynote address from award-winning actor Jason Alexander and commencement speech from Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. Chris Klein, Martina McBride, Don Cheadle, DJ Ravi Drums, Clayton Kershaw, Kiki Hernandez and Alex Caruso are also expected to wish the graduates congratulations. Seniors don't have a traditional ceremony this year due to the coronavirus pandemic and Spectrum decided to create a virtual ceremony for Southern California grads. "Graduating seniors across Southern California have inspired us all with their tremendous perseverance, and have more than earned their diplomas," said Cater Lee, Vice President News and Content for Spectrum News 1 in a news release. "Since this year's seniors can't participate in the graduation tradition of walking across the stage in front of their friends and families, we are bringing all Angelenos together to give them the celebration they deserve," Lee said. The graduation program will be available on Spectrum News 1 on channel 1 for Spectrum subscribers, and on channel 99 for Cox subscribers in Palos Verdes and Orange County. Patch readers can still recognize recent graduates with our salute to SoCal grads and our class of 2020 yearbook.
