Description

Explore Seattle's Eastlake neighborhood from MOHAI Fairview Park In this, mini-workshop, Kate will lead you through Seattle's Eastlake neighborhood, starting at the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) along Lake union towards Capitol Hill. Kate will share tips on composition, use of light, and finding unique elements in the ordinary. Settings - What are the best settings for the environment and whyComposition - Essential ideas on composition, and some unique takes to inspire you to explore places with your own vision and ideas. Sunset is around 8:00 PM, so we will have a good bit of light. BONUS!! Before the event, Kate will share an ebook/pdf with elements that will help you in general, on the topic of urban landscapes, as well as go-to settings, gear, and more. This will be a great guide to have with you in the field and keep as notes for future outings on your own. What to BringA Smart Phone or Camera (digital or film) with at least one fully charged battery (extra battery if you have it)Lens, Kate recommends something like a wide angle, perhaps 10-20, or 16-35, or if you are into primes, 20, 35 could be great. If you think you would want to get closer to your subject a telephoto can certainly be beneficial.Layers - Seattle weather is a little unpredictable (OPTIONAL) Tripod and Neutral Density Filters, if you want to try to play with some slower shutter speeds before sunset. This could be fun if we have cool clouds. We will primarily be walking but can pause from time to time for those who may want to try some longer exposures. If you do decide to do this, bring a tripod that is lightweight (but also designed to hold your gear!) so that you can walk with it too. EXPERIENCE LEVELAttendees will leave this session with stronger photographic skills, including technical understanding, creativity, and more. This session is for those who have an understanding of using their cameras in manual; a solid grasp of ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed, White Balance, and essentials in their menu system.
