MALVERN, PA — A yearly evaluation of schools based on state and national education data identified 40 outstanding high schools in the greater Philadelphia area and Great Valley High School made the list. Philadelphia Magazine recently published its list of the 40 Top-Rated Public High Schools in Philadelphia and the Suburbs. The magazine used the data from the Pennsylvania and New Jersey departments of education and the National Center for Education Statistics to look at factors such as enrollment, student-teacher ratio, SAT scores, and students who go on to attend college, among other factors. Great Valley High School enrolls 1,337 students, with a 96 percent graduation rate, with 93 percent of graduates going on the college. Its student-to-teacher ratio is 14 to 1, and SAT scores (verbal/math) are 610/604. The list features 40 schools, 15 of which are located in the city.
