Main Line Native John Hickenlooper Wins Colorado Senate Primary

MAIN LINE, PA — Despite a failed Democratic presidential bid, Main Line native John Hickenlooper is still heading to Washington D.C. According to the New York Times, Hickenlooper, born and raised in Narberth, was declared the winner in Colorado's primary senate race. The Times reports Hickenlooper as of Wednesday morning won 525,716 — or 59.5 percent — of votes in the state's Democratic primary election for a seat in the United States Senate. Hickenlooper, who served as Colorado's governor from 2011 to 2019 and mayor of Denver from 2003 to 2011, was up against Andrew Romanoff, who earned 357,311, or 40.5 percent, of the vote. The Narberth native and Haverford School graduate will go on to face incumbent Sen. Cory Gardner in the Nov. 3 general election. Hickenlooper was one of many candidates vying for the Democratic president nomination, but ultimately ended his run no Aug. 15, 2019. Shortly thereafter he announced his run for the senatorial seat on Aug. 22, 2019.
