Female Pop Punk Bluesy Noisy Art Rock Vocals *Wanted*

Meets

New York City NY

Description

All original songs, Electric Guitar, Bass, Keyboards and Drums oriented band start up, professional, etc. Power Pop, Bluesy Psychedelic Punk, RocknRock, Dissonant, Noisy Melodic Rock, and more. Catchy, well thought out chord progressions and arrangements. Looking for pro level, fully developed vocal talent, 18--30ish. Cis Gender F not TransW. Trans doesn't fit the concept. Thanks for understanding. Vocals only; I am convinced that when attention is divided between vocals and playing an instrument then the vocal performance suffers. Thus, I want the singer focused on delivering great vocals, only. You have natural ability, great ears, great timing and musical depth. Practiced up and voice in shape. You've done your woodshedding. You can perform live and handle the nerves and anxiety. Reliable. Dependable. Resilient. You can recover from a bad day at rehearsal or a home practice session after a good nights sleep and some think time. In a lot of instances everybody has to work out their parts bar by bar, line by line, note by note. It takes time to put something good together. Broadway Theater, Opera, Bel Canto vocal styles (vibrato every other note and at the end of every line where a note is held) is not needed or wanted. Nonstop vocal vibrato is out of date for rock ever since The Beatles. A singer who engages in nonstop vibrato is demonstrating that they cannot think of anything else to do as a stylistic embellishment. When singers get into the habit of doing vibrato nonstop they cannot find the two brain cells that are necessary to turn it off, because turning off the nonstop vibrato would lead to a terrible realization--they have to (gasp) think about interpreting the lyrics and work something out that doesn't sound generic. Getting the tone squared up with lyrics, melody and instrumentation is sometimes a goodly amount of work. Versatility, pro level pitch control and a decent solid range needed, with an engaging voice with texture that has some edge or a sound or two or three. Hopefully you're the type of musician who studies what great vocalists do and then modifies it to suit your voice and songs you're learning. Preferably you have ongoing training and coaching. Creativity, good taste and a high musical IQ are exponentially more important than having a three octave range. So having a natural sense of how a beat, rhythm and melody interrelate and converge with song structures is essential as a starting point. You'll catch on to the finer points of these attributes when you're working out songs with people who have this stuff down. You like rocky bluesy swinging music, electric guitars, a live combo; we wont be doing studio synth drum machine midi generated, slow droning chord changes, etc. If you're looking for a band to work on your indie alternative dream pop this is absolutely the wrong place. We won't be doing that type of agonizingly slow, melodically meandering, computer based solo singer songwriter music that is currently in vogue. The ultimate goal is: write, record, tour, full time and make a living at it. Yes, it is doable, provided that talent is there. If you want to leave your day job or work situation down the road (in about six or seven months after debut) this may be the ticket. Please send a demo or sample in your reply.
