Description

Blue is an amazing 6 year old male English Pointer / Heeler / Lab mix (all just guesses, we didn’t do a DNA test). He is loving, loyal, eager to learn and to please. He’s lived with and spent time around children of all ages and has always been great. Whenever folks on the street ask, “is it ok to pet your dog?” I’m always happy to answer with an enthusiastic yes, as I have no doubts about his behavior in those situations. He is incredibly trainable – I’ve taught him all the basics: sit, down, stay, up, and leave it; as well as more advanced maneuvers like laying still for nail care with the dremmel, waiting patiently outside restaurants or shops, and jogging next to a bike. He is 100% potty trained and crate trained and can be left home alone, in or out of the crate, with no problems whatsoever. He’s also not a barker, so if you want peace and quiet when folks pass by or knock on your door, he’s an absolute dreamboat. Really he has been the perfect dog in all but one way – he has a reactivity to other dogs that can be unpredictable. At first it seemed mostly to pop up around resource guarding, but the list of triggers seems to be growing. I still trust him in most settings with other dogs, but unfortunately, we no longer feel he can be left safely with our two other (much smaller) dogs. For this reason I think he’d be a best fit either as an only dog, or in the hands of someone comfortable handling these issues with a 70 lb. dog. I am dedicated to finding the right home for Blue, and to doing whatever it takes to make sure his transition is smooth and happy. I’m not asking for a rehoming fee and will send him with his harness and leash, lots of food, and favorite toys and bedding. And of course I’ll be available to his forever home for questions, support, or whatever you / he needs. He is an incredible dog and rehoming him has been a really hard choice to make. He will be the perfect dog for the right person or family. Feel free to reach out with questions, or to schedule a time to come meet him.
