WILLISTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Willistown Township Police have condemned the death of George Floyd, for which Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin has been charged.
Willistown Police John M. Narcise and Captain Robert P. Klinger issued a joint statement on behalf of the department Tuesday.
Narcise and Klinger said no one should ever be treated like Floyd was — Chauvin knelt on his neck for about nine minutes — by anyone, let alone police.
"We have both had long careers in Willistown and the reason we entered this profession was to make the world a little bit better," Narcise and Klinger said. "The officers of the Wilistown Police Department treat all people with dignity and respect and we hold ourselves accountable, as well as, you should hold us accountable."
The statement concluded by saying no one should fear the police and especially not because of the color of their skin.
