Description
STRATHAM, NH — On Saturday, New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers were made aware of a missing juvenile in Stratham through Rockingham County Dispatch.
Around 6:30 p.m., a conservation officer with a K-9 unit responded on scene and initiated a track from the backyard of the juvenile's residence using a discarded robe as a scent article.
K-9 "Cora" was able to track approximately three quarters of a mile through a wooded area with dense, thigh deep swampland, where the juvenile was located underneath a log in thick cover. The child had minor scrapes and bruises but she was in good health.
The girl was assisted back through the swamp and reunited with her family by the conservation officer and a Stratham police officer. The Stratham Fire Department also assisted in the recovery of the missing juvenile.
NH Fish and Game's K-9 unit is a small team that specializes in search and rescue, evidence detection and is available to assist statewide.
The K-9 unit is mainly supported by donations from the public through the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire. Anyone interested in making a contribution the team can do so by mailing donations to:
