LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A decision on whether to demolish the Liberty Theater in downtown Libertyville has been pushed back until February. The owner of the historic building at 708 N. Milwaukee Avenue asked that the demolition request by deferred until the Feb. 11, 2020, meeting, according to information posted on the village's Facebook page. The Liberty Theater is located within a designated historic district, village officials said. The demolition request was reviewed by the Historic Preservation Commission, which voted to recommend denial to the village board. It is expected the village board will consider the Historic Preservation Commission's recommendation at the February 11, 2020, meeting, according to village officials.
