Waukesha Parade Suspect Will Face Trial In October: Report

WAUKESHA, WI — The man accused of ramming his SUV through a crowd of people and killing six in Waukesha will face trial in October, a judge said Thursday. Darrell Brooks Jr.'s trial starts Oct. 3 and will run through Oct. 28, The Associated Press reported. Brooks is accused of multiple crimes, including six counts of homicide and nearly 70 counts of recklessly endangering safety on Nov. 21. Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Darow said she had worked with the father of one of the victims in private practice but would still give Brooks a fair trial. "I don't have any strong feelings about the alleged conduct of (Brooks,)" Darow said. She added she doesn't have a current relationship with said father. Attorneys for Brooks filed a motion to change the trial venue and said publicity surrounding the case would be pervasive and negative for their client, Fox 6 Milwaukee reported.
